Where this all went down was away from the World Stage (the one out of 4 stages I had a pass for). I did worry one of them might be working at the entrance and recognize me, but they didn’t.

I’ve been to Poland many, many times and have never had a bad experience – the people are amazing. This was a total one-off thing and in retrospect not a big deal at all compared to getting my credit cards and 70 euros stolen by gypsies…

That’s a ridiculously elaborate scam involving way too many people to even be profitable… what arseholes. Polish people in general are usually complete legends when it comes to being nice/helpful, but their “security” guards and bouncers are right up there with the worst I’ve seen in any country, so I’m not at all surprised they didn’t lift a finger.

I take it when you went back in with your friend’s crew pass you decided just to avoid the perpetrators, rather than go back stage and get involved?

I know, I should have switched it over to video mode but I as too busy snapping photos of their faces “to send to CNN”. Seriously. The next time I am invited backstage somewhere I will definitely think about concealing the pass under my shirt for safe keeping, it would help even if it is more of a hassle to show.

Haha, I like that – IRL. That sounds like an awesome story re: MCA, dying to hear it. I’ve got another interesting one from the festival that involves Public Enemy…maybe I will tell it not IRL soon.

I don’t know if it will scare them off or prompt them to start wearing heavier weaponry, but I am glad I did it too. Had I not found the other pass I would have gone to the festival organizers and raised hell – there was no way I was going to miss seeing all those bands!

That is f’d up! Glad you’re OK, would have loved to have seen footage of the scene you made ;) Maybe wear the lanyard under your shirt next time?? Would that help?

I know! That’s why I am convinced they all knew each other somehow. The sushi was also pretty shocking, mostly because it was absolutely delicious. So fresh! Who knew Poland was a hotspot for sushi or maybe it was specially flown in from Japan just for Bjork (anything is possible).

I can’t believe the security guards didn’t do anything and didn’t let you in after witnessing the entire thing! Shocking!
Plus, I’ve never seen sushi at a backstage catering.. It’s true that I went to only one :)
