Düsseldorf was a place I randomly found myself in mid-December en route back to the USA since I was flying Air Berlin and it happens to be their second largest hub. Although a little bummed that I wasn’t getting laid over in Berlin… it actually turned out to be quite an enjoyable two-day stopover.
In between living it up in one of Germany’s most forward-thinking hotels and checking out the city’s extravagant Christmas markets, I found great pleasure in taking leisurely strolls around town with nothing else but the clothes on my back, music in my ears and an iPhone in my hand. Unbeknownst to me, Düsseldorf is one hell of a place for modern architecture – something that I am by no means a connoisseur of, but a subject I do love photographing. And dressing up in apps apparently.

Hey Jen – hopefully by Spring the trees won’t be angry anymore. Was referring to the Meliá Düsseldorf. I’ll be putting up a post later this week on my time there.
That’s actually not a Banksy, surprisingly,. It’s by kurznachzehn, a Düsseldorf street artist and is on one of the walls along the Rheinuferpromenade (Rhine River Promenade). Walking along it from Altstadt to Medienhafen, where all the crazy architecture is, it will be on your left about midway down.
Such a neat look at Düsseldorf – I just got back from the city as well. You really captured its unique personality. Definitely not what you think of when you think Germany.
